Transport

In addition to road deliveries of waste, the proposed facility will be serviced by a railway link to be used as the sole means of transport for the solid recovered fuel (SRF) created at the Lostock Gralam plant. This is intended to help limit the number of deliveries by road.

Existing railway sidings at the Lostock site will be re-opened with all of the recovered material produced – over 100,000 tonnes a year - moved by train, utilising the existing rail network and minimising road transport.

Traffic generation during construction

During the construction of the proposed facility, Viridor would operate a Construction Phase Travel Plan and Vehicle Routing Plan to minimise disruption and reduce the impact on surrounding communities.
